My entry for Bevy Game Jam #4!

For more information visit: https://github.com/mattzque/bevy-iconwars

This is my first ever game jam so I kept it really simple. It's mostly based around a simple boids simulation.

For best experience use Chrome and make sure WebGL is working correctly on your system by checking: chrome://gpu Firefox works too but may have reduced performance.

Instructions

  • Shoot icons to make them follow you.
  • You take damage if they touch you.
  • Bring them to the dropzone (the center area) to score points.
  • You make more points the more followers you bring at once.
  • You take more damage the more followers you have.

Controls

  • Up / W - Move Forward
  • Down / S - Move Backward
  • Left / A - Strafe Left
  • Right / D - Strafe Right
  • Space / Left Click - Shoot
  • Mouse Wheel - Zoom
  • Escape - Pause Menu

You can also press O to open up the development settings, most of them can be adjusted in real-time, but it may crash the game.

The game is now updated to bevy v0.13.1

I also changed the control scheme to always point up, instead of relative to the rotation.

We are curious about the control scheme for movement. What led you to go with the one that you chose?

Thanks for playing! No particular reason, perhaps there is a better scheme though, what would you have done? Perhaps having the camera rotate with the player icon instead?

If it were us, we would have kept wasd locked to up left down and right respectively.

Hey man, great game, sooo polished!

Very fun! I love the incentive to get a bunch of followers at once. The popup about which icon was just hit makes it a little hard to see, but only if I'm going downwards.

thanks! true about that popup getting in the way, will try to fix after the jam is over :)
